Are you a Cereal fan? A café in London’s Brick Lane might be your dream come true

Cereal fans in London will now have a new home: Brick Lane’s Cereal Killer Café, a rainbow of affordable cereal from all over the world packed with quirky breakfast memorabilia.IMG_8571_2

A creation of Northern Irish twins Alan and Gary Keery, the Cereal Killer Café was initally launched on crowdfunding platform IndieGoGo. It was then featured on BuzzFeed, TimeOut, ITV and others. IMG_8555

The café opened today in the midst of fan queues. The first 100 customers – me included – got an extra Kellogg’s goodie bag with a sponsored mug, a towel and a cereal bowl. IMG_8574_2

Cereal Killer’s décor is one of a kind: Batman and Star Wars cereal boxes share the shelves with a Kellogg’s box with the Keery brothers’ faces. Hand-made cereal portraits of TV serial killer Dexter and Hannibal Lecter decorate the walls with pictures of old adverts and old-fashioned TVs. IMG_8559_2 IMG_8555IMG_8556_2 IMG_8561

IMG_8569_2Now on the actual cereal. It takes one glance at the menu to ignite indecisiveness even in the most consumed café boffin: cereal from all over the world, from South Korea to Australia, from the United States to France, all sound like perfectly indulgent breakfast options. You can also choose your milk normal, soy, almond, oat, banana, strawberry and chocolate. The Cereal Killer even serves cakes with cereal toppings.

To make your life easier, try the breakfast combos – either a bowl and a toast or a pop-tart and a hot drink (£5) – or the very affordable cereal cocktails for £3.50. One of them includes a Kinder Happy Hippo. Just saying. To avoid too much cereal guilt, I went for a £5 combo meal of Australian Nutrigrain cereal with toast. IMG_8566_2

A crew of over-excited students as well as TV camera crews and bloggers filled up the tiny Brick Lane caf̩ this morning РI arrived just in time, before the last few seats were taken. As blogger Wilkes, author of the Tweet and Vine below, said:

The Cereal Killer Café sounds like the new perfect spot for adventurous brunch lovers in London. Beware, health freaks - it’s a ‘Go wild or go home’ type of place. No point in asking for boring Bran with all those rainbow and marshmallow goodies waiting to be eaten.
