Believe the hype: Cahoots is awesome!

TimeOut London recently wrote: “Is it just us or it’s impossible to get a table at Cahoots?” Thanks to the lovely Colleen from KK Comms and to bartender Michele I finally made it there in record speed – and I would be happy to give up the view from my window to move permanently to London’s coolest underground spot. Here’s what went down at Cahoots during the last long Bank Holiday weekend.BeFunky Collage

“Ahoy! Are you here to see the captain?” I was told as I showed up at Cahoots’ door in the bustling Kingly Court. Everything and everyone at Cahoots is in character, so I just tried to wing it despite being the world’s worst actress. As we went down the stairs to the ticket office, it all felt like a 1940s movie. Before we went in, we even had to stop at the ticket booth, have a chat with the ticket officer in charge to leave him our coats, and we were then let in to meet the captain.IMG_0146Cahoots 0037

Spoiler alert: the captain didn’t show up. Maybe we weren’t cool enough. What was terribly cool though was the table that was selected for me, right inside the main carriage, in the bar’s best spot. The whole place teleports you back to a 1940s’ abandoned tube station, up to the point where the perfect execution of the theme is almost overwhelming. Armed with a menu in the shape of a thin rationing times newspaper, a lovely waitress with a polka dot dress that matched my own ably ran us through the (many) options.

We went for a Keep Marm and Carry On, a sweet vodka-based cocktail with lemon and lime marmalade, passion fruit juice and vanilla syrup, and a Pear Today, Gone Tomorrow, with Sailor Jerry rum, pear puree and maple syrup. I closed the evening the compulsory Lauren Bacall, a zesty marvel in a teacup with Bacardi rum, peach liqueur and orange marmalade.IMG_0184IMG_0175

Despite the hype surrounding Cahoots in these past few months, most of its drinks are really affordable… Although they are all so tasty and innovative that you might want to blow your budget on all of them.

I left my heart at Cahoots. I would have never left. Never have I seen a concept so perfectly executed in a bar, anywhere in the world. Can I move in please?
