After living in East London for four years, I was gutted to hear there was a cocktail bar right in my face that I still hadn’t noticed. Casita, hidden in an alley next to Leonard Street, was a welcome surprise. 
Following the advice from the amazing Joe Wadsack from BBC Good Food, I went out to discover this tiny tequila bar that can only host 45 people at a time. Man, it was worth it!
Being as small as it gets, an evening at Casita is very intimate: you’re standing shoulder to shoulder to everyone at the bar at every second. The music is loud, some people dance, some people try to chat (loudly) and inexplicably, most people wore hats the night I was in (me included).Â
The cocktails themselves are some of the best and freshest I have ever tasted. As I went on World Gin Day (last Saturday), I had to go for the marvellous Bramble de Casita, made with Beefeater gin, crème de mure, Chambord, lemon, mixed berries and crushed ice. This is a drink that would help you survive even the spiciest Mexican dinner: the mix of lemon and berries taste so great together it’ll be difficult not to want to drink it all at once.
Casita is a hidden gem that feels miles away from the London weekend mayhem. I felt like I was back in Southern California all of a sudden. I will definitely need a full immersion soon!

Dopo aver vissuto a East London per quattro anni, mi sembrava impossibile che ci fossero bar di cui non avevo mai sentito parlare. E invece entra in scena Casita, nascosto in una stradina vicino Leonard Street.
Dopo aver conosciuto il giornalista della BBC Good Food Joe Wadsack, son dovuta correre ai ripari per provare questo mini tequila bar che può far entrare solo 45 persone a serata.Â
L’atmosfera al minuscolo Casita è molto intima: essendo così piccolo non si può non essere gomito a gomito con gli altri avventori. La musica è alta, c’è chi balla, c’è chi prova a chiacchierare e, per qualche oscura ragione, la maggior parte dei clienti del bar portano un cappello.Â
I cocktail di Casita sono tra i più freschi e gustosi che abbia mai provato. Visto che era la giornata mondiale del Gin, ho provato il Bramble de Casita, con Beefeater gin, crème de mure, Chambord, limone e frutti di bosco. Il Bramble de Casita vi aiuterà a sopravvivere anche alla più piccante cena messicana: il mix di limone e frutti di bosco è così dissetante che sarà dura non volerlo finire tutto in un sorso!
Casita è una gemma nascosta che sembra lontana anni luce dal casino di un weekend a Londra. Mi sono sentita di nuovo a Los Angeles per qualche ora – avrò bisogno di una full immersion al più presto!
