Flesh and Buns bottomless brunch

Every London restaurant does a bottomless brunch nowadays. All it takes is Prosecco, pancakes and eggs to make up a respectable bottomless brunch menu. But Flesh & Buns in Covent Garden goes one step further, giving you one of the best value bottomless brunches I’ve tried so far.

At Seven Dials’ Flesh & Buns you get a cocktail on arrival, three small plates, two buns, a dessert and bottomless Prosecco for only £46. The fact that their brunch is a great deal is a no-brainer. What’s difficult is actually picking what to eat.

Flesh & Buns’ menu offers an impressive choice of oriental delicacies. We started with spicy fresh Kimchi Bloody Marys and  Flesh & Buns’ version of prawn crackers, a lighter, herbal cracker to match with avocado and jalapeño dips.

We then went for some terribly tasty and well-presented sushi roll: the California roll, a classic that didn’t disappoint, and the soft shell crab rolls, fried goodness in a sushi roll.

But it’s the cooked small plates that make for an incredible starter: both the Korean fried wings and the crispy fried squid are no guilt free meal, but they’re definitely the best indulgent Sunday treat to match with your glass of Prosecco. Topped with sesame seeds, the wings are the perfect dish to get down and dirty with, and they come with warm towels to clean your hands with after tucking in. The squid, topped with fresh lime, is a crowd pleaser, no matter where you’re from: it’s a great oriental dish and a small plates all Italians will love.

It’s hard to find a place in the steamed buns heaven that London has become in the past year, but Flesh & Buns’ aubergine miso bun has officially won a top place in my heart. Nothing out there tastes like their melt-in-your-mouth, zingy aubergine, topped with pickles and salad.

Right when I thought the aubergine miso bun topped the chart of best dish of the brunch, there came dessert: marshmallow s’mores to melt on the flame and make into a cookie sandwich, or creme brulee Kinako doughnuts. The perfect desserts to top an already royal meal, they’ll leave you with a guilty conscience but with a full belly.

As far as bottomless brunches go, it hardly gets any better than Flesh & Buns. Go try it – and brace yourself for a rough Monday morning. It’s totally worth it.
