I’m no stranger to Instagram crazes. That’s why I went, tried and Instagrammed Shackfuyu’s Kinako french toast or Blutop Ice Cream’s cookie sandwich. Next on my list was The Barge House‘s Breakfast in Bread.
The Barge House is a canal-side restaurant on the Haggerston Riviera that would have been the restaurant of the summer if we had had an actual summer. It’s incredibly busy during weekend brunch time, but luckily I managed to grab myself a table for one outside while reading an inappropriate book.
Their Breakfast In Bread (£12) is an even carbier take on the English Breakfast, in the sense that it’s an English Breakfast cooked inside a massive, tasty loaf of bread. Filled with cumberland sausage, bacon, roast tomatoes and leek, sprinkled with cheese and topped with an egg, the Breakfast In Bread smells amazing and tastes even better. There’s an original, veggie and salmon option.Â
The Barge House’s Breakfast In Bread is the perfect brunch dish that will keep you satisfied for a whole day. Look at the weather forecast, book a table outside and enjoy.
