One of London’s cosiest and classiest venues, The Zetter Townhouse in Clerkenwell is a safe bet for an amazing night out in front of world class drinks and perfectly executed British food classics.
A 13 bedroom Georgian townhouse and cocktail lounge by The Zetter Group, the Zetter is just across the cobble stones of St John’s Square. Its sumptous, rich, old Britain interiors make it look like the private home of The Zetter Hotel’s eccentric ancestor Aunt Wilhelmina.
The Zetter Townhouse is crammed full of collectibles, taxidermy and ‘Victoriana’ from Aunt Wilhelmina’s travels, and its light blue front door has been winning five-star reviews since 2011. There building hosts two spectacular suites, 11 bedrooms, a Games Room (with a table tennis table) and a Dining Room with menus by acclaimed chef Bruno Loubet.
Stuffed full of oddities and curiosities, with an open fire crackling in the grate, the relaxed, informal sitting room is a wonderful place to chat in front of a cocktail and some unique British tapas. The Cocktail Lounge is a collaboration between The Zetter Group, star mixologist Tony Conigliaro from Drinks Factory and 69 Colebrooke Row and chef Bruno Loubet.
Clerkenwell, once the centre of Dickensian London, was known also for its breweries and gin distilleries and the unique recipes that Tony has created for The Zetter Townhouse pay homage to this heritage. Old recipes for tinctures, bitters and herbal remedies have inspired not only the cocktails but also the homemade cordials and infusions that sit behind the apothecary style counter.
To accompany the drinks, chef Bruno Loubet has created a menu of delicious bites and supper bowls.Â
Go for their Scotch Egg with curry mayo, the courgette fritters and salt cod croquettes or, if you’re looking for a healthy treat, go for the Whilelmina salad with courgette fritters, seeds and honey lemon dressing.
The Zetter Townhouse recently open in Marylebone, not far from its arch-rival The Chiltern Firehouse.
