I realised I failed at life when it came out that, after nearly five years in the UK, I had never tried Eggs Benedict. I made up for it by going to Tom’s Kitchen Canary Wharf’s marvellous brunch.
Tom’s Kitchen Canary Wharf is your best bet for weekend brunch away from the hustle-and-bustle of Central London. During the weekend the business crowd swaps places with families and couples and the restaurant is quietly busy, ready to welcome you with top dishes and friendly, knowledgeable staff.
Thisรย January, Tom’s Kitchen Canary Wharfรย is helping us detox with a range of fresh, cold press juices like the delicious beetroot, apple and celery juice or the zingy cucumber, appleรย and mint juice.
We started the brunch with two Tom’s Kitchen signature dishes: the chicken liver and foie gras parfait withรย chutney and brioche and the spicy crab cake withรย cucumber and chilli salsa. Both flawless, these two starters areรย a great option for a different, more varied brunch.
After starting my Eggs Benedict education with Tom’s Kitchen take on this brunch classic, replacing the ham hock with crispy bacon, I might have trouble adapting to all the other Eggs Benedict out there. Despite not being a great fan of Hollandaise sauce, I finished this dish in a flash: everything was cooked to perfection. The triple cooked truffle chips I chose as a side added even more to the dish, the Parmesan slices cut so thin they melted on top of the chips for a tasty, salty and more flavoursome side.
Last but not least, you could even have Tom’s Kitchen’s incredible dessertsรย as your main during weekend brunch and leave happy and fulfilled. The milk chocolate and caramel tart with
peanut and hazelnut ice cream is made with Gianduia chocolate so crunchy and greatรย it reminded me of my childhood in Italy. My favourite dessert however was theรย pear and blackberry crumble, warm and sweet with its hot custard, the best way to fight away the cold of these last weeks of January.
My introduction to Eggs Benedictรย started with a bang.รย I just hope Tom’s Kitchen hasn’t spoiled me for life.
