It was an eventful week between Number 90’s second birthday along the canal in Hackney Wick and SHOT’s launch in St. Paul’s.
In a celebration that runs all weekend (tonight included), Number 90 hosts DJs, vegan and meaty slider feasts and incredible cocktails in one of East London’s most outstanding places. I had visited Number 90 in the summer to enjoy an evening at Supper Tub along the canal, but now the bar has sent away the hot tubs to turn its canal-side balcony into a summer terrace.
With its selection of interestingly named cocktails (like the Rons Gone Coco with Kahula, Coconut Cream & Mint), so yummy they might as well be smoothies or milkshakes, it’s pretty safe to say you’ll have a great night at Number 90.
If the beers, cocktails and sliders are a bit much for you, don’t worry: London has a new clean-eating Mecca, SHOT. In between the City and central London, SHOT will open every morning at 6.30 am to please early risers with outstanding coffee and healthy cold-press juices. But forget those rank-looking kale smoothies you see everywhere: the SHOT team has done its best to make veggies taste great. So they added maca powder and cinnamon to make even the earthiest of beetroots taste like breakfast fuel.
The founders kept it simple: healthy food doesn’t have to taste bland and look uninspiring. And SHOT’s slick, trendy restaurant together with its incredible recipes is the living proof of that.
I for one will be going back for their açai bowls I so loved in California, for their coffee and for their organic, dairy-free chocolate bars, made with dates and coconut oil amongst other ingredients.
