I’m super excited to end 2020 on the blog with this review of the Foxy Cleopatra Empress box set by Empress Mimi. Read on to find out why this gorgeous set was the perfect gift – even for a 2020 birthday!

Foxy Cleopatra Empress set by Empress Mimi
The Foxy Cleopatra set caught my eye straight away while looking at Empress Mimi’s website: it’s in my favourite, Carolina Redâ„¢ colour and it reminds me of the burlesque bombshells I used to fangirl over as a teen, before I even knew that pole dance and performances were going to be such a huge part of my life.
Priced at $169.95 (£129), the Foxy Cleopatra Empress set is the ultimate luxury for lingerie fanatics (and for my partner, who had SUCH a hard time taking pictures of me in it). Both the wire-free bra and the briefs are made of stretchy sheer embroidered tulle at the front and of red satin on the back, making the colours pop on every skin colour (even on pale wintery me) and size. Far from stopping at the already gorgeous bra and briefs, the set goes all out, including a pair of Foxy Cleopatra hold ups, made from soft and silky threads and complete with a red seam which is very Crazy Horse.
To match the hold ups, the Foxy Cleopatra suspender belt is made from tulle like the bra and briefs, and it’s embroidered with delicate floral details. Unlike many tight, uncomfortable and unflattering suspender belts, this one sits flatteringly on the hips and has elasticated satin trims and adjustable straps that attach easily to stockings. I really liked how it was delicately, nonchalantly see-through so that I could actually see bits of my belly from it.
And last but not least, to complete the look, the set also features a choker in matching embroidered pattern and some red nipple tassels if you feel like having a go at tassel twirling.
The Verdict
The Foxy Cleopatra Empress set by Empress Mimi is a joy to put on and to wear. If you’d told teenage little me that, one day, I was going to own such stunning lingerie and love myself in it, I would have said: yeah, right. And while of course finding self-love takes more than a set of stunning lingerie – more like two years of therapy (and counting) plus four years of pole dancing and healing from abuse in my case – I can assure you that a set like this can only aid the process.
Empress Mimi’s sets seem ideal for pole dance and boudoir type photoshoots, or for performances that do not require a handspring, sweating or liquid chalk messing everything up.
I’d recommend ordering a box through tracked delivery, because although non-tracked delivery is cheaper, the package comes from the US and may risk getting lost in the Royal Mail depots – #CovidBlues. You don’t wanna risk that!
