The view from Frank’s Café in Peckham

London has plenty of spots that claim they will make you feel on top of the world. Nothing works as well, however, as Frank’s Café in Peckham.

On the tenth floor of Peckham’s Multi-Story car park, Frank’s Café is a feast for the eyes on a sunny evening. The destination of choice of many London hipsters, Frank’s is more than just a bar: hosting two different pop-up food joints, it’s also an art gallery showcasing the best creation from London’s most creative universities.

Used to life in East London, I never thought it would get any grittier and Snatch-like than my own beloved neighbourhood. Once I got to Peckham, I had to think again: I fell in love with the place.IMG_0437

I was a bit baffled while looking for Frank’s: walking around the Peckham Multiplex Cinema, I only found the entrance to the bar by following the hordes of twenty-something entering what looked like a shady car park in an alley. Ten floors – and an inspiring bunch of art installations – later, I found myself on the bar’s terrace, speechless because of the view and worried that the wind would show everyone my knickers.IMG_0435

All it took was one of the bar’s perfectly executed Negroni Sbagliatos and a seat at one of the big tables to make me feel in peace with the world.IMG_0445

Cocktails at Frank’s are cheaper than in most East London bars (£6 against Shoreditch’s average of £8) and the famous Campari bar has the most impressive choice of the red liqueur even an Italian has seen.

Never would I ever have thought I’d make it South of the river, the lazy ass I am. Frank’s Café in Peckham, with its mind-blowing views of London – and its stock of Campari and Aperol – has convinced me to go back.
